What people want from their job is becoming more and more contested. Some stress the importance of work that is personally meaningful, others demand  a workplace that is politically conscious, while still others think of work as just a means to a fulfilling private life.

Moreover, the traditional distinction between “work” and “home” has become increasingly blurred – with the COVID-19 pandemic only exacerbating this shift.

While we know that we are living through a time of immense cultural and social change, what exactly this change consists of—and what it means for the future of work and society—is not well understood.

This research project, funded by the
Flanders Research Foundation (FWO), and in partnership with KU Leuven, seeks to fill this gap in knowledge.

The aim of this study is to better understand the changing meanings of “work,” “home,” and “success” among professionals and managers in Brussels.
